Malcolm
was a great role model for our community. He lived life the right way,
enjoying himself and benefitting society. Malcolm was a man of great
integrity, humor and intelligence. He was generous with his time and
support of others, and very optimistic. Although he suffered from many
years of poor health, he always looked at the bright side and would
not complain. He took everything in stride and still found the time
and energy to help others. In fact, his devotion to others through his
charitable activities spoke volumes about the kind of guy he was.
I
remember how Malcolm volunteered to pick up immigrants at the airport
or offered to pay for his student's college education. He was also very
active in many other causes including AIPAC, the Jewish Federation,
ADL... One would not know about his contributions unless you asked him
pointed questions about them because he was so humble.
One
could see how he handled his terrible illness and admire his courage
and ability to live a full life while suffering. Many of his friends
would see Malcolm at parties, weddings, or other political or social
events and until his death or his protracted stay in the hospital, not
even know he had been ill. Malcolm refused to bring others down or burden
them by discussing his sickness. I vividly remember several occasions
when he was in the hospital and I wanted to just listen and allow him
to get some things off of his chest, but he only wanted to talk about
me and my life. I think about him all the time and I know that he has
positively impacted me and did his part to make this world a better
place. He is terribly missed and will always be.
