Malcolm Hangs Around

By Harold Gluckman, father.

During Malcolm's long illness and thereafter I stayed at Malcolm's townhouse in Houston. During his last six weeks in hospital, his sneakers were neatly placed under the dinette table in the breakfast room close to the entry door. I noticed the shoes every morning on leaving and they remained under the table after his passing.

Six days after, on Friday night, Victor, his close friend arranged for the family to go to Club "No Minors" where Victor informed us Malcolm spent a large number of evenings, chatting up the ladies and generally having a fun time. (Read about this evening on the web site "Stories" by Mary Maxey.)

The morning after, on descending into the breakfast room, I noticed that the shoes were awry as if Malcolm had just kicked them off after returning from Club "No Minors".

Was he there with us?
